The first of the specials, titled 2017, was filmed in Washington DC and will premiere on April 4 in all Netflix territories.

CK, who is also an actor, writer, producer, director and editor, has previously gone direct-to-consumer with his specials, selling the shows via his website for US$5.

His most recent stand-up special, Louis CK Live From the Comedy Store, was released this way in January 2015, a few months before premiering on FX. The cablenet also airs CK’s scripted comedy drama Louie.

“Louis has been one of the most innovative comedy voices in this new era of stand-up. He has also been a thought leader in the business of comedy,” said Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix.
