Netflix adds Disney titles in UK

Netflix has added live-action and animated titles from Disney, Marvel and DreamWorks to its service in the UK and Ireland.

Recent blockbusters including Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, John Carter, and The Muppets will come to the streaming service next year, while Disney/Pixar titles such as Ratatouille and Wall-E are available now.

Classic Disney movies from the past like Dumbo and The Aristocats have also been added and other exclusive titles destined for the SVoD service include The Help, War Horse, People Like Us and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

The deal comes after Netflix struck a major multi-year deal with Disney last year, giving it exclusive first-run SVoD rights within the US for live-action and animated features, including the new Star Wars movies, from the Mouse House, beginning in 2016.

It also follows a wide-ranging pact the Mouse House signed with Sky in the UK and Ireland recently, resulting in a co-branded channel and handing the satcaster exclusivity on new Disney titles at least a year after release.
