NENT Norway names new CEO

Recently formed Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has appointed a new CEO at its Norwegian arm, as former incumbent Morten Aass takes on another role in the group.

Vegard Klubbenes Drogseth has been appointed CEO of NENT Group Norway, with responsibility for NENT Group’s Norwegian broadcast TV, streaming and radio operations.

The appointment is effective immediately and follows the decision by Aass, who has served as CEO of NENT Group Norway since 2017, to take up the position of group-wide advisor on strategic content projects to Anders Jensen, NENT Group president and CEO.

Vegard was previously head of pay TV Norway at NENT Group, a role in which he was also responsible for Viaplay in Norway. He joined NENT Group as a trainee in 2004.

Stockholm-based NENT Group was formed earlier this year ahead of the planned splitting up of Nordic media giant MTG.

NENT Group includes broadcasting, streaming and distribution operations in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, spanning free and pay TV. It houses the TV3, TV6, TV8 and TV10 channel brands, Viaplay digital streaming services and the Nice Entertainment production operation.

The latter is one of Europe’s biggest producers, with a portfolio that includes Monster, One Big Happy Family, Playroom, Rakett and Novemberfilm in Norway, as well as Strix in Scandinavia and the Netherlands and Paprika Studios in Eastern Europe.

Jensen said: “Morten Aass has made a significant contribution as CEO in Norway and I’m happy that he will now focus on accelerating one of NENT Group’s key competitive differentiators – our one-of-a-kind storytelling.”

It was revealed last week that Jeremy Fox, founder and chairman of NENT Studios-owned distributor DRG, would be stepping down to be replaced by Morten Mogensen, CEO of NENT Studios.
