NBCE hires GK Films’ Small

NBC Entertainment (NBCE) has added GK Films executive Kahli Small to its drama development team.

Kahli Small

Small was executive VP of production and development at Graham King’s company (The Departed, Argo, Hugo) but has now been named senior VP of drama development at NBCE. She reports to executive VP of drama development Pearlena Igbokwe.

“The distinction between the big and small screen is more and more irrelevant; instead there are just good stories – and Kahli has a knack for finding and nurturing them,” said NBCE president Jennifer Salke.

Small joins as NBC’s production arm continues to ramp up its longform production efforts, having added Quinn Taylor as exec VP of movies, miniseries and international copros last month.

Small’s exit from GK comes after television president Craig Cegielski left in January. He turned up last month at FremantleMedia North America.

Small recently oversaw the development of a biopic of Freddy Mercury, which Sasha Baron Cohen had been due to star in before pulling out of the project this week.

Prior to GK, Small spent eight years at Focus Features, where her credits included Milk, Eastern Promises, The Americans and The Kids Are Alright.
