NBC ups Evans to oversee current output

NBC in the US has promoted senior executive Bruce Evans to work across its current programming output after the incumbent stepped down.

Evans, who was senior VP of current and daytime, becomes exec VP of current programming and replaces Vernon Sanders, who is moving into a production deal at NBC sibling Universal TV.

Evans, who has been with the US network for more than two decades, reports to NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke and will work with Sanders over the coming months as he transitions into the role.

His credits include daytime drama Days of Our Lives and primetime series The Blacklist.

Salke said Evans was “the natural successor” to work across NBC’s current business. “His remarkable skill set shines through in managing many of our biggest shows and I’m thrilled we’ll be able to work even more closely together moving forward,” she added.

NBC unveiled five freshman dramas and three new comedies at its upfronts in May and is seeking to bring back its ‘Must See TV’ line-up on Thursday nights.
