NBC Universo taps Discovery exec

US Hispanic cable network NBC Universo has appointed a Discovery Communications exec as its senior VP of programming and production.

Bilai Joa Silar, who begins on April 27, will lead the channel’s programming strategy and oversee all aspects of content acquisition, development and production.

She will also work with NBCUniversal’s Hispanic Enterprise and Content, as well as NBCUniversal, on strategic programming opportunities.

She was most recently VP of content at Discovery US Hispanic Networks and will now report to Rubén Mendiola, president of NBC Universo.

NBC Universo was known as Mun2 until earlier this year, when NBCUniversal relaunched https://www.c21media.net/nbcu-preps-mun2-relaunch/ the channel on the same day it became home to the Spanish-language telecast of the Super Bowl.
