NBC strips Still Standing

NBC will launch its version of Israeli gameshow format Still Standing stripped throughout primetime in the week leading up to Christmas.

The US version, hosted by Ben Bailey (Cash Cab), is being produced by Universal Television after NBC picked up rights from Armoza Formats earlier this year.

The show, which involves contestants engaging in fast-paced head-to-head trivia battles with the losers dropping through the studio floor, will air every night a5 20.00 from Monday, December 19 to Thursday, December 22.

It will then return on Monday, December 26 in the same timeslot and air weekly until January 30.

The original version was developed by July-August Productions and has aired for two seasons on Channel 10 in Israel. A third season will air in spring next year.

The format already airs on Antena3 in Spain and M1 in Hungary and is in development in ten other territories including France and Germany.

In related news, CBS has also purchased an Israeli format to adapt for the US audience.

Life Isn’t Everything, a comedy about a middle-aged divorced couple, is being produced by Sony Pictures Television.

Daniel Lappin, the writer of the original series, which has aired 150 episodes over nine seasons on Channel 2 in Israel, will be involved in the US version.
