NBC pulls Suspect, Community

Struggling US network NBC has overhauled its primetime grid, pulling sitcom Community and freshman drama Prime Suspect from the midseason schedule.

From February 6, Monday night will see the return of talent format The Voice at 20.00-22.00, after which midseason musical newbie Smash will air.

Supermodel Elle Macpherson’s new reality show Fashion Star will fill Tuesday’s 21.00-23.00 slot on March 13, after which it will settle into the 22.00 slot. Parenthood moves to 22.00 from February 28.

Wednesdays will see the arrival of new comedy Are You There, Chelsea? at 20.30 from January 11, while low-rating sitcom Whitney will move from Thursday to fill Wednesday’s 20.00 berth from January 11.

Furthermore, Thursday night flop Prime Suspect will be replaced in its 22.00 slot by international coproduction in January. Current Wednesday nighter Up All Night will move to Thursday’s choice post-Office slot at 21.30.

To replace Community, NBC is returning award-winning 30 Rock, which has been off air due to star Tina Fey’s pregnancy. However, NBC said Prime Suspect and Community are not cancelled, only benched.

On Fridays, UK format Who Do You Think You Are? takes over from Chuck, which is ending its fifth and final season in January. Harry’s Law is relocating to Sundays at 20.00 from March 4.
