NBC picks up Still Standing

NBC in the US has struck its first alliance with Israel’s Armoza Formats, greenlighting a local version of gameshow Still Standing.

NBC Universal will produce an eight-episode run of the series, which premiered on Channel 10 in Israel in December last year, made by July-August Productions.

The studio-based format offers contestants the chance to win US$1m by out-guessing 10 opponents in 10 fast-paced rounds that see losers falling through a series of trap doors. It delivered a 50% average ratings uplift to Channel 10, according to Armoza.

“This gameshow has proven its popularity overseas with its breakneck pace, physical humor and intense face-offs,” said NBC and Universal Media Studios executive VP of alternative programming Paul Telegdy.

Armoza brokered the deal together with Steve Wohl, head of Paradigm Talent Agency’s alternative programming department. A second series of the Israeli version of Still Standing is currently in production for a summer airing, with Channel 10 doubling its order to 24 episodes.
