NBC petitioned to axe Trump

US viewers are petitioning NBC to ditch shows featuring outspoken businessman-turned-politician Donald Trump following his comments about Mexican immigrants.

More than 200,000 people have signed the online petition, which is calling on the US network to cancel Miss USA, Miss Universe and The Apprentice.

Hispanic broadcaster Univision last week axed its planned broadcast of the Miss USA pageant in July following the controversial comments from Trump, who part-owns the event.

In a campaign to launch his bid for the US presidency, Trump said immigrants from Mexico “have lots of problems” and “are bringing those problems to us.”

That prompted Univision to end its relationship with the Miss Universe Organization, while NBC distanced itself from the businessman.

Trump, meanwhile, has used Twitter to claim that Univision has apologised for pulling out of the Miss USA pageant, adding that he would be “suing them for a lot of money.”
