US network NBC is bolstering its comedy slate by picking up a trio of comedies from performers including Mindy Kaling.

Kaling’s as-yet untitled sitcom will focus on a charismatic gym owner with no ambition who lives with his younger brother.

The Universal Television show, which Kaling co-wrote with Charlie Grundy, marks her return to TV after her roles in NBC’s The Office and The Mindy Project, which is now on US streamer Hulu.

Workplace comedy Spaced Out will be written by Adam Sztykiel and comedy veterans Bill Lawrence and Jeff Ingold, who most recently all collaborated on NBC’s Undateable. Warner Bros Television will produce, along with Lawrence’s Doozer Productions.

Finally, The Sackett Sisters comes from writer Luke Del Tredici (30 Rock) and executive producers Tina Fey, Robert Carlock and David Miner.

The single-camera comedy is about a family that becomes reunited when two estranged sisters perform an act of public heroism and are forced to navigate the aftermath together. Universal Television is producing with Fey’s production company Little Stranger.
