NBC has ordered 10 episodes of World of Dance, which will see dancers picked from qualifying events around the US and thousands of online submissions.

The competitors will then be divided into three groups – under 16, over 16 and teams – before competing to get to the live studio stage. The winner will receive a prize of US$1m.

Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions will produce World of Dance with NBC and Universal Television Alternative Studios. No premiere date has been announced.

This is the second dance competition show ordered by NBC this year after the network commissioned an as-yet untitled series from Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum.

Lopez will continue to star on NBC’s cop drama Shades of Blue, which will return for its second season in 2017.
