Nat Geo preps Pastore for originals

National Geographic Channels (NGC) in the US is reshuffling its management team by moving one of its studio execs to become president of original programming and production.

Emmy-nominated producer Tim Pastore, who is currently exec VP of production and development for Nat Geo’s production division, National Geographic Studios, will take up the newly created role from August 18.

His remit will include overseeing all development, production and management for NGC in the US with responsibility for approximately 400 hours of content annually.

Before working for NG Studios, he was VP of factual programming and production at BBC Worldwide Productions, where he worked on NGC series Life Below Zero.

Heather Moran, exec VP of programming and strategy, will continue to manage the network’s production team and oversee channel operations, while Alan Eyres, senior VP of programming and Development, will continue to spearhead the development team.

Both now report to Pastore, who will be based in NGC’s New York office.

Geoff Daniels remains exec VP and GM for Nat Geo Wild, reporting along with Pastore to NGC’s CEO Courteney Monroe.

The revamp is the latest to be made to NGC’s management team, following the appointment of David Hill as chairman and the promotion of Monroe, who had previously been the firm’s chief marketing office, in April.

Their arrivals came after the exits of president Howard T Owens and CEO David Lyle.
