Nat Geo People arrives in Nordics

National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) has expanded its fledgling Nat Geo People network into the Nordic region for the first time.

The channel, which offers shows about inspiring people, will launch in Denmark after NGCI agreed a carriage deal with local operator YouSee.

The net will be part of YouSee’s basic TV-package and will reach 720,000 Danish households, representing 30% of the total viewing public, according to NGCI.

The female-skewing network, which launched in Turkey, Italy and Germany earlier this year, offers series such as cookery show David Rocco’s Dolce Vita and reality series Hook, Line & Sisters, about the experiences of those working in the fishing industry in Alaska.
