Nat Geo block targets broader audience

National Geographic Channel (NGC) in the US is to air a block of programming from its sister networks in daytime as it aims to attract a broader audience.

NGC recently began airing Nat Geo Wild shows from 09.00 to 11.00 and is this week adding programming from National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) from 11.00 to 13.00, Monday to Friday.

Brad Dancer, senior VP, programming planning and research at NGC, said: “This is an opportunity for us to reinvigorate our daytime schedule while taking advantage of the brand’s diverse and extensive inventory.”

The Nat Geo Wild block includes World’s Deadliest, World’s Weirdest, Animals Gone Wild and Animal Fight Night. Content from NGCI includes Vinnie Jones: Russia’s Toughest, Incredibly Small World and Ultimate Airport Dubai.

Both blocks will run until the end of December.
