Music Box picks up Berlinale entrant for US

Berlinale film In den Gängen (In the Aisles)

Chicago-based Music Box Films has acquired all US rights to a German feature competing at this week’s Berlinale European film market.

In the Aisles (1×125’) is directed by Thomas Stuber and stars Franz Rogowski (Transit, Victoria), Sandra Hüller (Toni Erdmann) and Peter Kurth (Babylon Berlin).

The film is a coproduction from Sommerhaus Filmproduktion, Departures Film and Rotor Film, alongside Franco-German public broadcaster Arte and German regional broadcasters MDR, SWR and HR.

The film’s producers are Jochen Laube and Fabian Maubach, while Global sales and financing company Beta Cinema in Munich is  distributing.

The story follows a man who loses his job as a bricklayer and starts again as a shelf stacker in a supermarket where he forms new relationships.

In the Aisles makes its world premiere on Friday February 23 and is competing for the Golden Bear in the main competition in Berlin this week.
