Vanessa Brookman joins Turner Broadcasting as VP of content and creative for UK and Northern Europe, having worked at MTV owner Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) for the past five years.

Her role at VIMN was expanded last year to include responsibility for programming on VIMN-owned UK broadcaster Channel 5’s digital spin-off 5*.

The new role will see Brookman oversee content strategy for the company’s kids’ and general entertainment channels in the UK, Nordics and Baltic countries.

Turner brands available in these regions include Cartoon Network, Boomerang, TruTV and TCM.

Brookman will report to Ian McDonough, Turner’s senior VP and MD for UK and Northern Europe, and will be based at the company’s EMEA headquarters in London.

The appointment comes after Turner hired Dan Fahy as senior director of commercial development for UK and Northern Europe last month.

Prior to joining MTV in 2010, Brookman was head of fiction and children’s at BBC Vision and before that worked in acquisitions at Channel 5.
