Dimension Films is behind the TV adaptation of Scream

MTV in the US has ordered a second season of its TV adaptation of the 1990s hit horror movie franchise Scream.

The US cablenet has greenlit the new episodes from The Weinstein Company-owned prodco Dimension Films.

More than 21 million viewers tuned in to the show’s first season (10×60′) and the series has also been streamed 7.9 million times on-demand, according to MTV.

The first Scream film, a satire of the horror genre directed by Wes Craven, was released in 1996 and spawned three sequels.
