MTV chief joins YouTube

YouTube has poached the head of programming at MTV, sparking a reshuffle at the US entertainment and music network.

Susanne Daniels

Susanne Daniels

Susanne Daniels becomes VP of YouTube Originals and leaves MTV following three years at the Viacom-owned network.

Daniels will oversee YouTube’s original programming and explore new ways to engage viewers. She reports to head of content and business ops Robert Kyncl, while former YouTube Originals chief Alex Carloss now reports to Daniels.

Although Daniels is not being directly replaced at MTV, Mina Lefevre has been named exec VP and head of scripted development and will oversee programming alongside Lauren Dolgen, exec VP of series development and head of reality programming.

Former ABC Family exec Lefevre was hired by Daniels and had been senior VP and head of scripted, overseeing shows including Scream and Finding Carter. She reports to MTV president Stephen Friedman.
