A Helsinki-based prodco has been tapped to pen the scripts for the upcoming animated series based on Angry Birds.

Moskito Television Oy, part of indie production alliance Nordic Independent Creative Entertainment, has joined compatriot Rovio, the game franchise’s producer, on the project.

Moskito, which produced Finnish commercial broadcaster MTV3’s drama Helsingin Herra (Hidden Tracks), currently has 26 scripts under development for the toon, Rovio said.

Rovio’s head of animation Nick Dorra announced the Angry Birds series at MipTV in April. The non-dialogue animated shorts, which will be between two-and-a-half and three minutes long and will feature characters from the video game, is expected to be available on all platforms by the autumn.

The series is being made by Rovio’s in-house production unit set up following its acquisition of Finnish prodco partner Kombo last year.
