David Mortimer is taking the role at Tinopolis, which owns companies including Passion Distribution, A Smith and Co, Firecracker, Pioneer and Mentorn.

He will be responsible for Tinopolis’ UK content direction and performance, working with the company’s prodcos in the UK and US to develop a transatlantic strategy.

Mortimer left NBCU in September last year having held similar responsibilities there since 2013, working on in-house development with prodcos including Monkey Kingdom and Matchbox Pictures.

He grew the unscripted output of the company from 12 hours in 2011 to 150 hours in 2016 and oversaw formats including Channel 4’s Made in Chelsea and The Real Housewives franchise on Bravo.

His new role will also see him identify and recruit new talent for the group with particular emphasis on popular factual and factual entertainment, Tinopolis said in a statement.

Prior to all of this Mortimer was co-founder and MD of indie Fever Media alongside Richard Hopkins. He also held various production roles at the BBC.

Mortimer will report to Arwel Rees, Tinopolis Group CEO, and work alongside creative director John Willis.

Rees said: “We are very excited to welcome David onboard to add extra firepower to our already strong team. His unrivalled track record of creating successful factual and factual entertainment programming makes him a great asset to the company.”
