Moonscoop seals Asian deals

Broadcasters across Asia have licensed content from Moonscoop, the French animation studio placed in administration earlier this year.

Malaysia’s Astro Ceria has picked up seasons one and two of Code Lyoko, while Spacetoon in Indonesia has taken the live-action spin-off Code Lyoko Evolution.

Elsewhere, Truevision in Thailand acquired over 350 half hours of programming from Moonscoop, which also sold its entire catalogue (1,200 half-hours) to Viettel, Vietnam’s largest mobile network operator.

Lionel Marty, president, worldwide sales at Moonscoop, said: “Asia has proven to be a major market for our shows, with significant volume of sales in the region.”

The French company remains in receivership, having filed for administration over the summer.

As previously reported, under the French administration system, companies usually operate under ‘observation’ for six months. After this period the administrator decides whether the company should remain in observation for longer, should be sold or closed.
