Mongol TV switches on GoggleBox

Mongolian broadcaster Mongol TV has become the latest international channel to commission a local version of hit UK format Gogglebox.

The channel, which launched in 2009, has exclusive rights to the format in the territory for the next 18 months and will produce 13 episodes to begin with, premiering in March.

The deal was first mooted earlier this month when distributor All3Media secured a South Korean version of the show with KBS.

The show, which films families at home as they watch the week’s TV and react to the programmes, was originally created by All3Media-owned Studio Lambert for Channel 4 in the UK.

Mongol TV relaunched its programming, original production and live production studios in February 2013. Since then it has been a prolific buyer of western drama such as ITV’s Mr Selfridge, and international formats such as Got Talent.
