Mondo TV takes studio to Tenerife

Italian animation studio Mondo TV has set up a pre-production hub in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

Mondo TV Producciones Canarias has been set up through the Italian firm’s Spanish subsidiary Mondo TV Iberoamerica.

Matteo Corradi, Mondo TV Group CEO, said the studio would cover pre-production for the majority of the 27 animation projects currently on the company’s slate.

Corradi cited the tax incentives the island can offer as one of the reasons behind setting up the studio.

Mondo TV is headquartered in Rome and owns one a library consisting of more than 1,600 episodes of television series. It is set to launch its first live action series, Heidi: Welcome Home, at Mipcom next month.
