Miramax hires Working Title boss

US studio Miramax is bolstering its TV aspirations by poaching the head of Working Title Television (WTTV) to join its development and production team.

Daniel Pipski will take up the newly created role of VP of television at Miramax’s TV division with a remit to develop and produce original series.

He will also develop projects from the Miramax library and oversee current projects including El Rey Network’s From Dusk Till Dawn and Martin Scorsese’s TV remake of Gangs of New York, which is in development.

Pipski, who will report to exec VP of production and development Zanne Devine, was most recently responsible for the development and production of NBC comedy About a Boy at WTTV, which is a joint venture between Working Title Films and NBCUniversal International.

Before that he was senior VP of production at Groundswell Productions and has also worked for Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s prodco LivePlanet.

The appointment comes as the Los Angeles-based film and TV studio looks to increase its TV output after agreeing a partnership with The Weinstein Company late last year that could see films such as Good Will Hunting remade as TV series.
