Midnight Sun rises in Russia

Midnight Sun

Midnight Sun has already been sold into the UK, Israel and the Nordics

Russia’s Channel One has become the latest broadcaster to pick up StudioCanal’s Franco-Swedish drama Midnight Sun.

The 8×60’ Nordic thriller is coproduced by French pay TV company Canal+, Swedish pubcaster SVT and Filmpool Nord, and produced by France’s Atlantique Productions and Scandinavia’s Nice Drama.

The show was created by Mårlind & Stein (Bron/Broen), based on an idea by Henrik Jansson-Schweizer and Patrick Nebout.

The high-concept thriller, which will air in Russian in early 2017, is set in a small Swedish mining community where a series of brutal murders conceal a conspiracy.

The show has already been sold to broadcasters including Sky Atlantic in the UK, Hot in Israel, NRK in Norway, Danish pubcaster DR, RUV in Iceland, MTV3 in Finland and VRT in Belgium by distributor StudioCanal.
