Mia & Me is heading to China

MIPCOM: M4E’s animated series Mia & Me will air in China for the first time following a deal with a local distribution agent.

UYoung Culture & Media will take on all TV, home entertainment and digital rights to the series in China. It plans to roll the property out across multiple platforms in early 2017.

“The challenge of bringing our popular and successful TV series Mia & Me to China has always been huge. We finally succeeded in finding the perfect partner for this endeavour in UYoung,” said Bernd Conrad, M4E’s commercial director for Asian markets.

Sold to more than 80 countries, Mia & Me (78×23’) was created by Gerhard Hahn and is produced by Hahn & M4E Productions, a joint venture between M4E and Gerhard Hahn.

Coproduction partners include Italian animation studio Rainbow and German pubcaster ZDF. Season three will be released in early 2017, with a fourth season and a feature film now in development.

Earlier this year M4E bought out Rainbow’s stake in Mia & Me outside of Italy.
