Melissa McCarthy runs On The Day alongside Ben Falcone

Viacom-owned US cablenet TV Land has ordered a comedy series exec produced by Bridesmaids star Melissa McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone.

Nobodies is a single-camera comedy that revolves around three friends who try to persuade one of their celebrity pals to sign on to a feature script they have written. TV Land ordered a pilot for the show at the beginning of the year before this week’s full pick-up.

The 12-episode programme is written by and stars Groundlings alums Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf and Rachel Ramras.

Michael McDonald (Mad TV) is attached as showrunner on the project, which will be produced through McCarthy and Falcone’s On The Day production company.

The news comes six months after US network CBS cancelled McCarthy-starring romantic comedy Mike & Molly after six seasons.
