Mediaset takes Turkish drama

Kara Sevda consists of 244 episodes

Spanish broadcaster Mediaset has picked up Turkish drama Kara Sevda (Endless Love), continuing the recent trend of Turkish scripted content being acquired in Spain.

Kara Sevda won the International Emmy for Best Telenovela last year, marking a milestone for the Turkish television industry. In addition, the series won the Special Jury Prize at the Seoul International Drama Awards in 2016.

The 244-episode series premiered on Star TV in its homeland in 2015, produced by prolific local drama outfit Ay Yapim. It tells the story of the son of a working-class family who falls in love with a high-class senior student at a university, and how their love blossoms despite the obstacles thrown between them.

The deal with Mediaset follows Atresmedia-owned channel Nova acquiring Turkish telenovela Divinity.
