Maximus takes Polsat, Al Jazeera to school

Maximus Films’ The Most Dangerous Ways To School

Polish broadcaster Polsat is among the channels to have picked up documentaries produced by Maximus Films from German distributor Quintus Media.

Polsat has taken seasons one and two of The Most Dangerous Ways To School, while pan-Arabian organisation Al Jazeera Media Network has acquired S2 in a deal brokered by producer and distributor IMG.

The 5×48’ series, from Munich- and Leipzig-based Maximus, follows children facing the most extreme obstacles, including climbing mountains and tackling wild animals, to get the education needed for a better life.

Elsewhere, Channel 8 in Israel has acquired Behind Bars: The World’s Toughest Prisons (6×60’), which looks inside the world’s most notorious prisons.

The series has already travelled widely, with Discovery Communications having struck a multi-territory deal for Latin America earlier this year.

Dutch broadcaster RTL has picked up Ultimate Vehicles (6×60’), which details innovations in civil and military aircraft engineering through history, such as tanks, ships and trains.

In October, Quintus licensed content to German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 for its documentary channel Kabel Eins Doku (K1 Doku).
