Matador reshuffles creative

Lip Sync Battle on Spike

Lip Sync Battle on Spike

The US prodco behind Spike’s Lip Sync Battle has revamped its senior management team with four promotions.

Matador, which is also behind What Would Diplo Do? for Viceland and Banksy Does New York for HBO, has upped Leah Culton Gonzalez to executive VP of production, overseeing all aspects of production for the company.

Gonzalez, who worked on Geeking Out for AMC and Project Runway: Fashion Startup for Lifetime, was previously senior VP of production at Original Media before working as a producer at Matador.

Additionally, Jack Turner has become senior VP of scripted and documentary content, overseeing the development, packaging and production of all scripted and documentary programming.

Meanwhile, Sam Brown has been promoted to VP of development, based in the LA office and spearheading the company’s slate, while Jerry Carita becomes VP of current series and development production.

“Though we certainly had high hopes for the success of Matador, we did not anticipate such steady, rapid growth and we would not have been able to withstand that level of expansion without Jack, Leah, Jerry and Sam,” said Jay Peterson, who co-founded the firm in 2013 with Todd Lubin.

“They have been an indispensable part of our team since the beginning and we could not be more proud of what they’ve accomplished over the last few years.”

Carita will be based in Matador’s New York office and will work closely with Peterson and Lubin to manage the studio’s series and pilots slate. Gonzalez, Turner, Brown and Carita have all been with Matador since its inception and will report to Peterson and Lubin.
