MasterChef takes Asian orders

Broadcasters in South Korea and Bangladesh have picked up cooking format MasterChef, taking the number of local adaptations of the show across Asia to six.

South Korean conglomerate CJ E&M has acquired the format for its O’live channel from distributor Shine International, while Bangladesh producer Delta Bay has bought rights to the show.

The shows are expected to be on air in both countries by spring 2012.

MasterChef is also on air in Asia in India (Star), Indonesia (RCTI), Malaysia (Astro) and the Philippines (ABS-CBN).

Other formats sold by Shine into Asia include Biggest Loser, to Star in India; The Moment of Truth, to Star and Taiwan’s Next TV; Shear Genius and Clash of the Choirs, to China’s SMG; and Beauty & The Geek, also to Star.
