Online videogames network Machinima has partnered with Lionsgate on a second series of its “zombie apocalypse comedy” copro Bite Me.
The new run of the original Machinima show will debut in March on the company’s YouTube channel and in the US on Lionsgate-, Sony- and Comcast-backed horror network FEARnet.
Machinima CEO Allen DeBevoise said the firm now aims to expand the series into a “global franchise,” after the first season of the web series gained more than 14 million views.
FEARnet launched in 2010 and is available on cable and IPTV platforms including Comcast, Time Warner and Verizon FiOS. It will be the exclusive TV partner for Bite Me, with the web series’ episodes extended to run on the network.
Machinima publishes videogame clips and trailers. Its YouTube network was the top non-music channel in the US last year, according to ComScore, when it first broke down the channel rankings of content on the Google-owned video site.
