M4E acquires Mia & Me

M4E’s children’s show Mia & Me

German rights management firm M4E has acquired 100% of the rights to international children’s property Mia & Me.

M4E has taken full control of the IP following a deal with its coproduction partner on the show, Gerhard Hahn’s production company Hahn Film.

The show follows the adventures of a 12-year-old girl who must juggle her life in the real world with another role in a magical kingdom, where she lives as an elf in charge of the land’s unicorns.

It features a mix of live-action and CGI animation and is set to enter its fourth season with 26 new episodes, while a feature film is also currently in development.

M4E said the brand is among the most popular for girls in Germany, while the series has been sold to international broadcasters around the world.

The series was originally sold globally by its Italian coproducer Rainbow, but M4E bought out the company’s stake outside of Italy in 2016.

The deal, financial details of which were not disclosed, follows Belgian children’s firm Studio100 acquiring a majority stake in M4E last year. It followed this up by buying New York-based preschool outfit Little Airplane Productions.

M4E’s library features over 2,300 episodes of brands such as Lizzie McGuire, Mia & Me, Tip the Mouse, Wissper and Miffy. echo Its subsidiaries include Telescreen and M4E Licensing & Merchandising.
