Lucky 8 TV fills development role

Lucky 8 TV, the US prodco behind A&E’s 60 Days In, has appointed an MSNBC Originals exec to replace its VP of development, with whom it has signed an overall deal.

Jessica Winchell Morsa

Jessica Winchell Morsa has joined Lucky 8 TV as VP of content development, reporting to executive VP of creative strategy Bruce Robertson.

Winchell Morsa was previously executive producer of originals at MSNBC, overseeing development and production of documentary and non-fiction series for the network.

She also served as executive producer of originals at The Weather Channel, working on series including Tornado Alley and the Lucky 8-produced 3 Scientists Walk Into a Bar.

The appointment comes after Jason Bolicki, development executive and producer at Lucky 8 TV, left the company to set up production company Exit Four.

Lucky 8 TV has subsequently signed an overall deal with Exit Four, which has several projects already in development. Bolicki’s overall deal will be overseen by Robertson.

During his tenure as VP of development at Lucky 8, Bolicki helped build the company’s slate of unscripted and non-fiction projects, including 60 Days In. Before joining Lucky 8 in 2014, Bolicki developed and executive produced shows including TLC’s My Strange Addiction and DIY’s Made in Milwaukee.

Lucky 8 co-presidents Greg Henry and Kim Woodard said in a joint statement that the overall deal “allows us to continue to be in business” with Bolicki and “work closely as he returns to his roots as a producer.”

“We’re also excited about the direction and expertise Jessica will bring to her new role, given her vast experience creating and developing content on both the network and production sides,” added the pair.
