Lucky 8 plays Turn Card

Lucky 8 TV, the prodco behind A&E’s 60 Days In, has formed a joint venture with married Undercover Boss production duo Courtney and Audra Smith.

Turn Card Content will focus on unscripted series and will be run by the Smiths, who will both serve as co-presidents. The JV already has series in development for various networks and digital platforms, although details have yet to be revealed.

Courtney and Audra Smith first teamed with Lucky 8 earlier this year as showrunners on the prodco’s recent Food Network series Kids BBQ Championship.

Kim Woodard and Greg Henry, who co-founded Lucky 8 in 2014, said the Smiths were “two of the most skilled and dynamic producers in our industry.”

“Their expertise developing and producing family and lifestyle programming, as well as feature documentaries, will help broaden Lucky 8’s scope, and we are confident their unique storytelling abilities will translate to standout television in today’s ultra-competitive marketplace.”

Lucky 8 is behind A&E shows 60 Days In and Behind Bars: Rookie Year. It also produced Kids BBQ Championship for Food Network; The Unknown Flag Raiser of Iwo Jima and Alaska Aircrash Investigations for Smithsonian Channel; and 3 Scientists Walk Into a Bar for Weather Channel. Woodard and Henry founded the firm with Isaac Holub and George Kralovansky.
