Look Mom!, Mondo take on Demons

Gary & His Demons will launch in spring

Canadian firm Blue Ant Media’s fledgling animation studio has begun production on Gary & His Demons, a comedy cartoon aimed at teens and young adults.

Toronto-based Look Mom! Productions is producing the animation in partnership with US company Mondo Media, with the series set to premiere on the latter’s channel on streaming service VRV this spring.

As part of the deal, Blue Ant sales arm Blue Ant International will add the show to its scripted offering to global buyers later in the year.

Based on a shortform pilot from the Bite on Mondo incubator (a collaboration between Blue Ant-owned Bite TV, Mondo and YouTube), Gary & His Demons centres on a 45-year-old on the cusp of retirement who is forced to keep fighting demons after his boss fails to find his replacement.

The series was created by Mark Little (Picnicface, Space Riders), who serves as head writer, co-director and the voice of the title character.

Gary & His Demons is exec produced by Josh Bowen for Look Mom! Productions and Wendy Willis and Pia Chikiamco of Mondo’s Six Point Harness studio. The series is co-directed by Lou Solis (Ugly Americans, Moonbeam City).

The project marks the next significant step in the expansion of Look Mom! which launched in October 2017 with Toy Hunters (26×11′) and Cloudface (26×11′), both of which are aimed at six- to 11-year-olds, already on its slate.
