US preschool network Sprout has acquired the animated series based on the Fisher-Price toy brand Little People.

The 52×11′ series will begin airing on the NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment-owned channel on March 7 following the deal with the show’s distributor and coproducer DHX Media.

Created for children aged 2-5, Little People is an animated, musical-comedy series that Fisher-Price parent company Mattel says celebrates the power of collaborative play.

“Sprout is the ideal preschool broadcast platform for this musical, comedy series about imagining a better world,” said Christopher Keenan, VP global content and executive producer at Mattel-owned Hit Entertainment.

Other broadcasters to have joined Sprout in acquiring the series include Cartoonito in the UK, RTL in the Netherlands and Discovery Kids Latin America.

Sprout is currently searching for a new president following the departure of Sandy Wax earlier this week, as revealed by C21.
