Lionsgate, New Regency launch JV

NATPE: Lionsgate is partnering with fellow US studio New Regency to create and distribute premium scripted TV series.

New Regency chairman Arnon Milchan and Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed the alliance at the first day of Natpe in Miami.

The firms said the partnership would help them develop and coproduce premium scripted series for global audiences, capitalising on New Regency’s A-list talent.

Lionsgate Television will also distribute New Regency’s theatrical film releases and library on television and digital platforms outside the US and Canada following their pay TV launch.

“New Regency’s library of award-winning blockbusters is a tremendous addition to our international television pipeline, and our alliance also creates exciting opportunities to produce premium scripted content drawn from a tremendous pool of world-class intellectual property,” said Feltheimer.

Lionsgate will also distribute New Regency blockbusters including The Revenant, The Big Short, Birdman and Gone Girl under the pact.
