Ted Bookstaver takes up the newly-created position of senior VP of alternative programming sales for Lionsgate, with a remit to license the firm’s slate of alternative programming to broadcast, cable and digital platforms around the world.

Bookstaver joins Lionsgate after recently being appointed as VP of international distribution at Dick Clark Productions, a move first reported by C21.

Prior to that, he was senior VP and head of Americas at Shine International, where he managed and led the Americas’ sales and acquisition activities. He has also worked for Eyeworks International Distribution and had an eight-year tenure at CBS/King World Productions.

It’s the latest unscripted appointment for Lionsgate, which added former Core Media exec Jennifer O’Connell in September and has shows including GSN’s Hellevator on its slate along with forthcoming duo Douglas Family Gold, for Oxygen, and E!’s Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian.

The firm also recently took a majority stake in Pilgrim Media Group and will distribute the prodco’s shows globally.

O’Connell, Lionsgate’s exec VP of alternative programming, said Bookstaver is “is ideally qualified to extend the rapid growth of our alternative programming roster into fresh opportunities worldwide.”

Jim Packer, Lionsgate’s president of worldwide TV and digital distribution, added that the exec would help the firm “respond to developments in a fast-changing global marketplace.”

“Ted has the knowledge, vision and relationships to leverage our growing slate of alternative programming across the full spectrum of broadcast, cable, SVOD and digital buyers around the world.”
