Lifetime takes a Turn exec

US female-skewing network Lifetime has appointed the development exec behind AMC drama Turn to develop and produce new shows for its Original Movies division.

Tia Maggini becomes VP of original movies at Lifetime and will be based in Los Angeles, reporting to Tanya Lopez, the network’s senior VP of original movies.

Maggini was most recently VP of television at LA prodco Josephson Entertainment, where she was responsible for developing shows including Turn, which was recently extended for a second season by AMC. She previously worked for US-based duo Marc Platt Productions and Red Wagon Entertainment.

Lifetime has been ramping up its original programming over recent years and has movies such as Big Driver, based on the Stephen King novella; Whitney Houston (working title); and Minnie Driver-starring miniseries The Red Tent on its slate.
