The A+E Networks-owned channel has ordered a 10-episode season to air next year following its debut last month.

Set against the backdrop of a hit dating show, UnREAL follows a young producer whose sole job is to manipulate relationships among the contestants to get the vital dramatic and outrageous footage that the programme’s dispassionate executive producer demands.

The drama, co-created by Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, is inspired by Shapiro’s award-winning independent short film Sequin Raze, and is produced by A+E Studios and Frank & Bob Films II.

A+E Networks also handles global sales for UnREAL, which has been sold to and will air in more than 100 territories, including France and Spain.

UnREAL is among 23 new shows to feature in C21’s latest Hot Properties Playlist. To watch a recent C21TV interview with Sarah Gertrude Shapiro, click here.
