Lambert extends deal, targets drama

Wife Swap creator Stephen Lambert has extended his contract with All3Media until at least 2020 and will launch a drama division under his Studio Lambert banner.

Under the new deal, Lambert will receive funding from the Discovery- and Liberty Global-owned production group to establish the new scripted unit.

“We are in a golden age of scripted television on both sides of the Atlantic,” said Lambert. “I’m excited by the prospect of us creating some hit scripted shows as well as building up our successful non-scripted slate.”

Lambert said he hopes to announce the head of Studio Lambert’s drama division in the coming weeks.

Studio Lambert was established with All3Media’s support in 2008 and the company has enjoyed success with award-winning reality programmes such as Channel 4’s Undercover Boss, Gogglebox and daytime hit Four in a Bed.

The prodco was fully acquired by All3Media at the end of 2012 when the group launched its US operation, All3Media America, chaired by Lambert who divides his time between the US and UK.

His new deal was negotiated by All3Media MD Jane Turton, who added: “I am thrilled that we have a new long-term deal with Stephen and look forward to huge success from Stephen and his team at Studio Lambert.”

Earlier this month, All3Media International appointed former Zodiak Rights boss Steve Macallister as its new CEO, following the resignation of Louise Pedersen.

Pedersen’s departure followed that of All3Media CEO Farah Ramzan Golant last September in the wake of Discovery Communications and Liberty Global receiving approval for their joint acquisition of the company.

Golant’s replacement is expected to be announced soon.
