Kwesé TV takes FMI titles

Econet Media, which operates internet TV service Kwesé TV in Africa, has acquired pay and catch-up rights to titles from FremantleMedia International.

Kwesé, which will soon launch a pay TV offering, has taken documentary series The Traffickers, Steve Harvey gameshow Family Feud and unconventional police procedural drama No Offence.

Documentary series The Sixties, The Seventies and The Eighties, executive produced for CNN/US by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog, has also gone to the service. Each doc examines the individuals and events that influenced and shaped each of the decades.

Joseph Hundah, CEO Econet Media, said: “We are excited to be bringing Africans premium content from all over the world and this deal is one of many that Kwesé has managed to secure.

“We are committed to entertainment excellence while giving our audiences extensive choice in programming and this is the first step towards delivering unparalleled viewing options.”
