Prime has picked up a package of BBCWW shows including Planet Earth II

New Zealand broadcaster Prime has collared exclusive free-to-air rights to Sir David Attenborough’s Planet Earth II as part of a multi-title deal with BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) Australia and New Zealand.

The Kiwi channel, owned by satcaster Sky TV, will air the original BBC-produced 2006 series before the premiere of the new six-parter. Telecast dates are yet to be announced.

The BBCWW deal will provide a raft of factual series and documentaries to Prime’s docs strand Prime Planet, including Turkey With Simon Reeve, Life In The Air, Animal Babies and Secret Life Of Dogs S2.

The package also includes Elizabeth at 90: A Family Tribute, Louis Theroux: Savile and new seasons of Flog It! and Fishing Impossible.

Karen Bieleski, head of entertainment content at Sky TV, said: “Documentary and factual content is very popular with our viewers and we know that this great BBC line-up will be well received. In particular, there has been considerable interest locally in Planet Earth II and we are looking forward to sharing its incredible and unique stories with our viewers this year.”
