Kirkman’s Invincible bound for Amazon

Skybound Entertainment’s Invincible is based on a comic that ran for 15 years

Amazon has made a straight-to-series order for an animated superhero series from The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman.

Invincible (8×60’) is based on the comic book of the same name and will be produced by Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment. The writer signed an overall deal with Amazon last summer and a first-look agreement with his company.

Simon Racioppa is attached to the new project as showrunner and will executive produce alongside Kirkman, David Alpert and Catherine Winder.

Invincible tells the story of Omni-Man, a father who trains his son Mark Grayson to become a superhero like him. The comic ran for 15 years and ended in February.

Kirkman’s partnership with Amazon includes his long-time collaborator David Alpert, who will develop television projects to debut exclusively on the tech company’s subscription streaming service, Prime Video.

Most recently, Amazon signed a first-look agreement with Hollywood star Nicole Kidman and her outfit Blossom Films, including TV, feature films and digital content.
