Kids version of The Voice in production

The children’s version of Dutch talent format The Voice goes into production next month, aimed at the Hispanic market in the US.

Telemundo Media, part of NBCUniversal, will next month kick off nationwide castings for the reality singing competition La Voz: Niños (The Voice: Kids).

Castings for kids aged between seven and 14 will take place in nine US cities in January and February, including in Miami, New York and Los Angeles, and the winner will receive a recording contract with Universal Music and a scholarship.

The show is slated to air in the spring on the Telemundo network, produced by Talpa Media USA. John de Mol will exec produce along with Stijn Bakkers and Katrina Fernandez.

The show, expected to air on Sunday evenings, was first announced during the Spanish-language channel’s upfront in May.
