Kew sells Slasher, Secret Agent into Lat Am

Shaftesbury’s Frankie Drake Mysteries is on Kew Media’s Natpe slate

NATPE: Broadcaster DirecTV has secured a pan-Latin American deal for two drama series as part of a raft of deals secured in the region by the distribution arm of Kew Media Group.

Kew Media has sold more than 350 hours of content into Latin America, it announced this week at Natpe in Miami.

The package includes eight-part psychological thriller Slasher: Guilty Party from Canadian prodco Shaftesbury and World Productions’ The Secret Agent (4×60’), an adaptation of Joseph Conrad’s classic novel which originally aired on BBC1 in the UK.

AMC has picked up seven films for pan-Latin America, including RST Pictures’ Anti-Social, a coming-of-age crime thriller starring Meghan Markle (Suits), Gregg Sulkin (Faking It) and Josh Myers (Legend). The Baker, Hardball and Earthbound are also included in that deal.

Seven seasons of family drama Heartland, produced by Seven24 Films and Dynamo Films for Candian pubcaster CBC, has also been secured by Imagen TV in Mexico, while City TV in Colombia has acquired more than 100 episodes of classic Emmy-nominated drama Highway To Heaven, starring Michael Landon as a probationary angel sent back to Earth to help troubled humans.

Finally, London-based rights agency Grey Juice Lab has taken broadcast rights in Chile, Argentina and Domincan Republic to 165 hours of content including three seasons of police drama 19-2 which was coproduced by Sphere Media Plus and Echo Media with Canada’s Bell Media. All four seasons of the BBC’s acclaimed crime drama Line of Duty are also included in that package.

The shows form part of Kew Media’s expanding catalogue at Natpe this week. Also on the slate is Frankie Drake Mysteries (11×60’), an original from CBC developed and produced by Shaftesbury in association with CBC and UKTV.

Another CBC series, comedy Crawford (12×30’) produced by Rabbit Square Productions, and Date My Dad (10×60’), which aired on US cablenet UP TV, are also available to Lat Am buyers.
