Keshet Int’l adds Gaumont exec for kids

The international arm of Israel’s Keshet has hired an exec from Gaumont Animation to lead its push into children’s content.

Nicola Andrews

Nicola Andrews has joined Keshet International (KI) in London as senior sales and commercial director for kids and will report to Keren Shahar, chief operating officer and president of distribution at KI.

KI’s fledgling kids’ division will focus on acquisitions, coproductions and sales of children’s content and comes after the firm acquired sales rights to four kids’ dramas from Israeli media firm Ananey Communications.

With KI keen to “invest at every stage of the value chain, build solid international brands and exploit them worldwide,” Andrews will be looking for new programming opportunities at the Children’s Media Conference in Sheffield in the UK next week.

Her departure from Gaumont Television, where she was VP of distribution, marks the latest exit from the firm’s UK operation following its decision to relocate its sales and distribution activities from London to LA.

Hana Zidek, Erik Pack and Sam Sermon are also among those to have left the company in the past 10 months. Meanwhile, the firm recently appointed Cecilia Rossignol from the distribution arm of France Télévisions (FTV) as VP of international TV drama sales in Paris.

Andrews has previously held positions at Cineflix Rights, BKN New Media, Sony Pictures and Carlton International.

“The kids’ content sector is entering a new and dynamic phase and we are responding with some ambitious but achievable goals that take advantage of the opportunities available to us,” she said.

In related news, Kelly Wright, formerly head of Latin America and executive advisor for Asia Pacific, has been promoted to VP of distribution and new business at KI, having helped establish local production arm Keshet MX in Mexico City.
