Keshet, Insurrection adapt novel

Keshet Studios has partnered with a US OTT specialist firm on an adaptation of the book The Dead Girls Detective Agency for digital platforms.

The LA-based subsidiary of Israel’s Keshet International (KI) is working with Insurrection Media, which targets scripted shows at OTT video platforms, on a pilot for the show.

Written by Suzy Cox and published by HarperCollins, The Dead Girls Detective Agency is a coming-of-age love story for young adults about a young Manhattanite who wakes up in a glamorous hotel to discover that she’s dead, apparently in purgatory, and must solve the mystery of her own murder.

TV writing team Jerica Lieberman and Molly Margraf (Mistresses) are onboard the pilot, which is due to begin production in March.

“Reaching global millennial audiences with engaging stories, on both traditional and digital platforms, is key to our ongoing strategy,” said Sebastian Burkhardt, senior VP of digital and acquisitions for KI.
